Polio Plus
It is a global effort: the eradication of polio from the face of the earth. Rotary International kicked off the assault in 1985, responding to the challenge given to Rotary by Albert Sabin. Since that time, with active participation by Rotary Club members around the world (over 30,000 clubs with 1.2 million members in 163 countries), through contributions and volunteer on-site participation in inoculations, more than $500,000,000 has been raised to help stamp out one of humanity’s most insidious diseases!
With significant international partners World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the National Centers for Disease Control Rotary is determined to celebrate victory on its 100th Anniversary in 2005!
