2024 Calendar of Events

The Mayor's Cup Festival & Regatta is a day packed with fun on the shores of Lake Champlain, and this year was no exception. The Sunrise Rotary Club of Plattsburgh hosted a variety of events at the Plattsburgh City Beach and at the Plattsburgh City Marina, including parts of the historic downtown Plattsburgh.  Check out some of the events that took place, and save the date of July 12, 2025 for next year's Mayor's Cup Regatta & Festival.
Mayor's Cup 5k Run/Walk
Location: Plattsburgh City Beach
Registration 9:00 AM

Register for this beautiful 5k loop that takes you on a lovely, wooded path that begins and ends right at the beach. 

Kid’s Fun Run
Location: Plattsburgh City Beach
Race Starts 11:00AM
FREE
This popular event for kids 12 and under, includes a 1k fun run along the beach.

Outside Art: Follow Your Path: The Eclipse Mural
Location: Plattsburgh City Beach
Stop by the Outside Art: Plattsburgh Public Art Project tent and watch mural artist Andrew McGill in action as he paints the "Follow Your Path: The Eclipse Mural" at the beach during Mayor's Cup! 
Volleyball – Open Play
Location: Plattsburgh City Beach
All day - FREE
The Plattsburgh City Beach has awesome professional nets in place at the beach and Sunrise Rotary is providing a couple of balls. Put together your own informal team of family and friends. No registration, no fee, just fun!

Sandcastle & Sculpture Contest- Sponsored by NAMI
Location: Plattsburgh City Beach
Time: 9:30am - 1:00pm (rolling registration and competition)
10:ooam - Free sand buckets (while supplies last)
1:00pm - Judging
FREE
NAMI Champlain Valley will host a Sandcastle & Sculpture Contest with an opportunity for everyone to compete to create the best, most unique sand sculptures. Categories: 12 & under, 13 & over, & Family. Sculptures will be judges at 1:00pm and prizes will be given in each category. NAMI Champlain Valley will also be giving out sand buckets at 10:00am on the beach front to anyone who has a desire to build sandcastles (while supplies last)!  If you don't care to compete then please come by and be a spectator! The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Champlain Valley is a local non-profit organization that provides free support, education and advocacy services to all those affected by mental illness.   
 
 
Price Chopper/Market 32 - Giant Coloring Mural
Location: Plattsburgh City Beach
All day - FREE
Kids of all ages will enjoy adding their color and creative flair to this wonderful supersized mural!
 
NCCI Snap and Smile Pavilion
Location: Plattsburgh City Beach
All day - FREE
North Country Center for Independence's Snap and Smile Pavilion will feature a photo booth with festive summer props such as a kayak and sailing gear - perfect for capturing fun memories of the day.
There will also be games, giveaways, and engaging activities for kids, including fossil making and identification. Summer Fun for the whole family!
 
Chik-fil-A Plattsburgh at the Beach
Location: Plattsburgh City Beach
Tiime: 9:00am - 2:00pm
Come see Chick-fil-A Plattsburgh at the beach. Be sure to download the Chick-fil-A One App and when you arrive at the Plattsburgh City Beach open the app to receive an original Chick-fil-A sandwich!  
 
MLPBS - Family-Friendly Activity & Book Giveaway
Location: Plattsburgh City Beach
All day - FREE

Join us at the Plattsburgh City beach for a hands-on PBS KIDS activity, suitable for kids ages 3-8. Children and teens who visit the Mountain Lake PBS tent get to take home a free book, courtesy of the Hallock Giving Library!

Parrots & Pirates Poker Run/Walk
Location: Plattsburgh City Marina and Downtown Plattsburgh
Time: 11:30am mandatory check-in at The Naked Turtle
Feel the Margaritaville vibe during Sunrise Rotary’s first annual Parrots & Pirates Poker/Walk. Honor Jimmy Buffet by sporting your best festive attire! The course begins and ends at the Plattsburgh marina area and the featured stops are strategically placed at various establishments in Plattsburgh's historic downtown.  Participants can opt to stroll along the Saranac River Trail on their way in or out of town. Sunrise Rotarians are adding a hydration station and some other surprises along the way to add to the fun, and there will be a live band playing at the last stop!
What a great way to get your 10,000 steps in for the day!

Paddle Power Palooza
Location: Plattsburgh City Marina
Registration 2:30 PM
Parade Starts 3:30 PM
FREE
Show off your paddle power prowess and decorative flair at Sunrise Rotary’s first annual afternoon boat parade!
The parade of non-motorized paddle boats (i.e. kayaks, canoes, SUPs) begins and ends at the marina and the route is approximately 1 mile in length. Participants are encouraged to call on their aquatic ingenuity and decorate their boats to distinguish themselves on the water. Skippers of all boats will automatically be included in drawings for prizes, and there will be a special drawing for prizes for the top creatively adorned vessels. Drawings will take place at the Mayor’s Cup Regatta Awards ceremony at 6:00pm.
There will be lots of spectators and activity along the waterfront on July 6th. In addition to the Regatta sailing races, a poker run will also be taking place around town and there will be live music courtesy of the local band Damaged Goods performing outdoors at the Plattsburgh City Marina.

Free Outdoor Concert
Location: Plattsburgh City Marina
Time: 3:00 - 6:00 PM

Enjoy live music from the legendary local band Damaged Goods. 

Doc's on the Water 
Location: Plattsburgh City Marina
Mooney Bay’s Doc’s on the Water will be onsite adding to the outdoor festivities on Saturday afternoon by offering some of their signature tasty treats and a cash bar.
 
Mayor’s Cup Regatta Sets Sail on Saturday morning in Cumberland Bay
Now in its 47th year, the Mayor’s Cup Regatta includes competitive races in three divisions – Jib & Main, Racing, and Multihull with prizes for all divisions. The sailing courses are set the morning of the race in Cumberland Bay on Lake Champlain. Races begin at 10:30 and end at various times throughout the afternoon on Saturday. The Regatta registration is free of charge. 2024 Mayor's Cup Regatta Registration Form
 
"Spirit of Ianelli' and Regatta Awards Ceremony
Location: Plattsburgh City Marina
Time: 6:00 PM

Congratulate Mike Collin, this year’s ‘Spirit of Ianelli’ Award honoree, and give a big round of applause to all the captains and their crew who competed in the Regatta.
