Celebrate Summer and Local Young Artists
For the fifth straight year Sunrise Rotary has partnered with CV-TEC to create a contest for designing the Mayor’s Cup logo. “Over the past several weeks, students in the Digital Production and Multimedia Communications program at CV-TEC have worked incredibly hard to create original designs representing the spirit of the Sunrise Rotary’s Mayor’s Cup Regatta and Festival. The creativity, professionalism, and talent demonstrated throughout this project have been truly impressive," said Sunrise Rotary President Wanda Carroll. Bryan DesForge's winning design was revealed at a press conference at CV-TEC on Monday, May 18, 2026. Bryan is a senior at the Saranac Central School.
 
The Digital Production & Multimedia Communications Program at CV-TEC offers students the opportunity to learn design concepts, color theory, typography, photography, videography, advertising, and print production.  “We wanted this year’s t-shirt design to come directly from the creativity and vision of local students, said President Carroll.  Not only does this showcase incredible artistic talent, but it also gives students the opportunity to participate in a real-world professional design experience — creating concepts, presenting ideas, meeting project expectations, and contributing to a large public event that thousands of people will see. That is powerful. These students are not simply completing an assignment. They are helping shape the visual identity of a regional tradition.”

“The Mayor’s Cup Regatta & Festival is Sunrise Rotary’s signature annual community event and has become synonymous with a celebration of Lake Champlain,” said President Carroll. “Our Club is passionate about protecting our natural resources but also making them more accessible to the community.” Donations from Mayor’s Cup sponsors and proceeds from the sales of the Mayor’s Cup t-shirts and hats are critical to our Club’s continued efforts to build and support projects like the Pavilion at Wilcox Dock, the Gazebo at the Samuel D. Champlain Park, the Max Moore Tree House at the SRT Trailhead and providing wheelchair accessibility to areas such as the Plattsburgh City Beach, Camp Tapawingo and the LaPierre Lane Park. 

Every t-shirt purchased, every sponsorship secured, every volunteer hour donated helps support local community projects, youth initiatives, scholarships, nonprofit partnerships, and service efforts throughout the region. The funds raised through Mayor’s Cup go right back into making our community stronger.
