President’s Corner – November 2025
Rotary Foundation Month
As we move into November, we turn our attention to a theme that underpins the very heart of what we do as Rotarians: the work of the The Rotary Foundation. This month is dedicated to honoring and supporting the Foundation—an institution whose mission is to transform our service into sustainable, life-changing impact both locally and globally.
Here in Plattsburgh and throughout the North Country, it’s easy to see how “service above self” takes shape through everyday actions—mentoring, literacy efforts, community projects, and more. But this month invites us to look beyond the visible results of our efforts and reflect on the critical infrastructure that makes them possible: the grants, training, global partnerships, and endowment that the Rotary Foundation enables.
What does that mean for our club?
It means recognizing that each dollar we contribute—and each hour we give—helps fund far-reaching work: from supporting youth leadership to improving health, expanding education, and promoting peace.
It also means considering how we can amplify our impact. Perhaps by exploring a Foundation grant for a locally designed project, or by inviting our members—and our community—to join the Foundation’s mission with us.
And it means celebrating the global dimension of our service: while our focus is rooted in Plattsburgh, our membership in Rotary connects us to a global network of volunteers responding to challenges everywhere.
So this month I encourage each of us—whether long-time Rotarian or new member—to ask two questions:
How can I deepen my personal engagement with the Foundation’s mission?
How can our club shine a spotlight on the Foundation’s role in making our local efforts stronger, more sustainable, and connected to the larger good?
Let’s take some pride in the fact that our work here has an international ripple effect—and let’s ensure that our commitment to service is backed by the structure, resources, and vision of the Foundation.
Together, we’re not only shaping a stronger Plattsburgh community—we’re investing in a world where our shared values of service, integrity, and fellowship lead to lasting change.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to a November of generosity, purpose, and meaningful connection.
Yours in Service,
Wanda J Carroll, President
Plattsburgh Sunrise Rotary Club
