Mark your calendars - the 2021 Mayor's Cup Regatta & Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 10th

Sailors, CLICK HERE to register your boat today!

The Sunrise Rotary Mayor's Cup Regatta & Festival is Plattsburgh's most time-honored and highly anticipated summer tradition on Lake Champlain.

Unfortunately, as a result of COVID-19 and the social distancing protocols in place at the time,  Sunrise Rotary was forced to cancel the Mayor’s Cup Festival in 2020. Fortunately, less stringent protocols were in place for water-based events, allowing boats to compete in the 43rd annual Sunrise Rotary Mayor’s Cup Regatta, on Saturday, July 11, 2020.

On a brighter note, Sunrise Rotary is planning to host the Mayor’s Cup Regatta & Festival on Saturday, July 10, 2021. The Club will host the one-day Mayor’s Cup Festival at a new and exciting venue.

On Saturday morning, July 10th boats will participate in the Mayor's Cup Regatta, the premiere sailing competition on Lake Champlain. The Mayor’s Cup Regatta includes competitive races in three divisions - Cruising, Racing, and Multihull with prizes for all classes. Unfortunately, because of lingering COVID-related social restrictions in place at the time of the planning for the Regatta, there will not be a post-Regatta BBQ nor a live awards ceremony.

The Festival - Kids and Family Activities
For the first time in 2021, the Mayor’s Cup Festival will be held at Plattsburgh’s City Beach, the crown jewel of the Lake City, boasting one of the longest sandy beaches on freshwater in the U.S. The one-day celebration includes a 5K race, kayak rides, volleyball and cornhole tournaments, live music and much more for the whole family to enjoy! The "Spirit of Ianelli" Award
The "Spirit of Ianelli" Award was established in 2010 in honor of the late Mayor John Ianelli, former Mayor of the City of Plattsburgh and co-founder of the Mayor’s Cup Regatta in 1978. This honor is bestowed upon one individual – sailor or landlubber – who exemplifies the same “community does matter” spirit that inspired Mayor Ianelli over 40 years ago, empowering our lake community to thrive, not only on race day, but every day.  CLICK HERE to learn more about how to nominate a worthy candidate today! Note, deadline for nominations has been extended to Tuesday, June 22, 2021!
