Outgoing President Eric McDowell was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow at Rotary's annual changeover dinner on June 27, 2023. Randy Giltz, Sunrise Rotary President (2009-2010) and Paul Harris Fellow awardee (2019), was delighted to honor Eric with the award on behalf of the club.
"Sunrise Rotary is pleased to have this Rotarian become a Paul Harris Fellow and to have the opportunity to recognize him for his efforts as an outstanding member of our club and our community," said Randy.

"When he first joined Rotary Eric said he wanted to experience giving back to the community and as a result has been actively engaged in community activities both in and outside of Rotary." Randy shared some specific examples of what makes Eric so unique as a Rotarian:
- Friendly, approachable, and outgoing, Eric is ‘joiner’ and manages to be involved in most of the club’s activities in some way, shape or form.
- As Sunrise Rotary Club President, Eric took the time to quietly get to know members of the club in a very genuine and non-threatening manner.
- While leading the club Eric implemented several creative initiatives including making the meeting structure more flexible by offering opportunities for evening fellowship in addition to our regular morning meetings.
