The Plattsburgh Sunrise Rotary Club is made up of over 30 caring and committed members who proudly live out Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.” Together, we work to make a difference in our community while building lasting friendships. We gather on Tuesday mornings at 7:30 a.m. Visitors and prospective members are always welcome—see our homepage for the full meeting schedule.
Where We Meet
We meet at Au Sable Hall, Room 114 (Hermes Conference Room) on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus. The room is fully Zoom-enabled, making it easy for members to attend in person or virtually and for guest speakers to join us from near or far.
Our Tuesday morning meetings are a mix of camaraderie, club business, and community insight—most weeks include a guest speaker from the local area. Bring your own coffee and breakfast—attendance is always free!
At the heart of Sunrise Rotary is service. Since 1987, our club has contributed thousands of volunteer hours and dollars to local and international projects. Learn more about our impact on the Who We Help page.
A special thank you to SUNY Plattsburgh for providing us with a welcoming home for our meetings.

Our Connection With the Community
The Sunrise Rotary Club is based in the City of Plattsburgh, in Northeastern New York, just 60 miles south of Montreal, Quebec. Nestled on the western shore of beautiful Lake Champlain, our club takes pride in its strong ties to the lake and the surrounding community.
One of our most visible contributions is through the Mayor’s Cup Festival, the City of Plattsburgh’s largest summer event, where Sunrise Rotary has played an integral role for many years.
Beyond the Mayor’s Cup, Sunrise Rotary is deeply involved in strengthening our community through service projects, partnerships, and volunteer efforts. We support local schools, nonprofits, and youth programs; provide scholarships; raise funds for literacy and health initiatives; and join with other organizations to respond to community needs both locally and internationally.
The Sunrise Rotary Club organizes and hosts the Mayor's Cup Regatta and Mayor's Cup Beach Festival, both central highlights of the annual Mayor's Cup Festival & Regatta.More than just a celebration of summer, this family-friendly event brings together residents from across the North Country and helps raise funds to support a wide range of community causes.
A Place of History, Industry, and Outdoor Recreation
Plattsburgh is a community rich in history and opportunity. The city is best known for the 1814 Battle of Plattsburgh, a decisive naval victory that effectively ended the War of 1812. For more than 150 years afterward, Plattsburgh was home to a vibrant military base that fostered a close bond between the community and the men and women who served our nation.
When the Plattsburgh Air Force Base closed in 1995, the region embraced a new chapter of growth. Clinton County has since experienced a wave of business and industrial revitalization, with transportation-related manufacturing and support industries taking root. The base’s former runway and facilities now serve as the Plattsburgh International Airport, widely recognized as “Montreal’s U.S. airport.”
Plattsburgh also benefits from its stunning natural surroundings. Just to the west lies the Adirondack Park, with the Adirondack Mountains offering endless opportunities for year-round outdoor recreation.
As Rotarians, we are proud to serve a community shaped by such a strong history, innovative spirit, and love of the outdoors. These qualities inspire our projects, our partnerships, and our commitment to “Service Above Self.”
