Adirondack Wildlife Refuge
Jan. 08, 2019 7:30 a.m.
The Wildlife Refuge is a 50-acre rehabilitation center on the western branch of the Ausable River. There is a one-mile educational nature trail; animal enclosures and a pet timber wolf. Run by Wendy and Steve Hall, the Halls are passionate about the environment and always willing to explain how plants and animals play a vital role in nature. Wendy holds Federal and State licenses in wildlife rehabilitation and education. The Wildlife Refuge continues to educate the public through presentations at schools and other organizations. There is usually an animal on site that has been brought to them to (at best) return to its natural environment. At the worse, they heal and use the injured animal during public educational demonstrations. |

May 05, 2019 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Sunrise Rotary is proud to be a sponsor of the Plattsburgh Half Marathon/10K/5K - all proceeds of which benefit Team Fox for Parkinson's research. Sunrise is the sponsor of Mile Marker 12 located at the at the corner of Hamilton and Jay Streets and the beginning of the Terry Gordon Bike Path. This unique location allows us to cheer on runners in ALL of the three races - and give a huge shout of encouragement to the half marathoners as they approach their final mile into the Oval. Sunrise has agreed to have at least 10 volunteers staged at Mile Marker 12 - and of course we want to have even more people on hand to create a greater Rotary impact. So bring your friends and family - along with your choice of bells, whistles and noise makers - to Mike Marker 12 on Sunday. Contact Joanne Dahlen for more information.

lori_with_a_story
Jun. 11, 2019 7:30 a.m.
For years as she fought Stage IV Lung Cancer with chemotherapy--with no promise of a cure, but only of extending her life--Lori Kashorek would ask her doctor, "I keep reading about foods that fight cancer. Is that something I could do?" Each time the answer was, "No, that doesn't really work--those are just stories on the internet." Finally, last fall, she decided she could no longer tolerate the constant sickness that accompanied each treatment. Come hear her tell her story about what is happening since she walked away from traditional Western cancer treatments, and how she plans to use it to help others. |
